August Road Closure + Alternative Route Information

TO ALL GUESTS VISITING ON OR IN THE WEEKS FOLLOWING AUGUST 17TH

Please be advised that our main access road, Toquart Bay Road, will be closed due to the Maggie FSR Arch Pipe Installation Project. The closure will begin on August 17th, lasting approximately 10 days.

During this time, guests will need to access Secret Beach via the Barkley Main Road (Maggie Bridge 04) alternate route instead. Please drive carefully, as it is a gravel forest service road (as is the usual road).

We recommend downloading the route on e.g. Google Maps as there are a few turnings which may not have signage. The directions for the alternative route are bullet pointed below.

Please note that Google Maps and other navigation apps may continue to suggest the usual Toquaht Bay Road route, but this will be closed during your stay. Please ensure you select the Barkley Main Road route instead.

Updated directions to Secret Beach Campground (For approximately 10 days starting on August 17th):

From Nanaimo / Port Alberni:

  • Travel west on Highway 4 through Port Alberni towards the west coast.

  • Follow signs towards Ucluelet/Tofino.

  • When you reach the Pacific Rim Visitors Centre – Tourism Tofino, turn LEFT towards Ucluelet.

  • Then turn LEFT onto Port Albion Road

  • Then turn LEFT onto Barkley Main Road (Maggie Bridge 04).

  • Follow Barkley Main Road (Maggie Bridge 04) for approximately 16.5km

  • Then turn RIGHT onto Toquart Bay Road for approximately 3.5 km. The Main Campground and Marina check in will be on the right.

  • You will see the Kayak Launch on the right on your way to the Main Campground/Marina. Check in here for Tent Platforms, Timberwolf RVs, or Kayak Launch/Parking.

 

From Ucluelet:

·       Head along Peninsula Road and onto the Tofino-Ucluelet Highway

  • Then turn RIGHT onto Port Albion Road

  • Then turn LEFT onto Barkley Main Road (Maggie Bridge 04).

  • Follow Barkley Main Road (Maggie Bridge 04) for approximately 16.5km

  • Then turn RIGHT onto Toquart Bay Road for approximately 3.5 km. The Main Campground and Marina check in will be on the right.

  • You will see the Kayak Launch on the right on your way to the Main Campground/Marina. Check in here for Tent Platform, RV, or Kayak Launch/Parking.
